You Are Needed - Volunteer! The Las Vegas Beer Festival™ needs dependable, beer loving Volunteers! Being a Volunteer at the festival is also a lot of fun! You'll get to meet new people and talk with brewers & beer lovers. Learn about and taste a wide variety of great beers from across the USA.! Best of all, you'll get to keep your official LVBF™ Volunteer T-shirt, receive a complimentary LVBF™ beer mug and receive beer tokens - so you can sample some of the great beers! All this for volunteering just a few hours of your time...
Positions... There are two types of positions needed for volunteer help: Beer Servers and Festival Assistants. Both are fun and easy jobs. As a Beer Server you will interact with the general public attending the festival. The Festival Assistant positions require more skills and responsibilities since you will work directly with visiting brewers, operations management, and coordination staff. No matter which level of participation you prefer, we need positive, reliable people for all positions. Being enthusiastic, having the time to donate for a good cause, and an appreciation for great beer is all we ask. Below is more information for you to review so you can decide which position would be more fun for you to do...
Beer Servers: Once you check in you'll be sent to a location to meet your shift leader. They will give you an information card about the beer, and a sample taste to prepare you to answer any questions you may receive. Many festival patrons will assume that you're from the brewery and will want to know about what they're going to taste... The serving process is easy. You pour the beer from pitchers into the festival mugs. There are two options: a sample portion will cost 1 token while a full mug will require 4 tokens. There is no cash exchanged - just tokens. This method is simple and will be explained at the pre-festival Orientation & Training sessions, then again during the check-in process. Above all, don't worry. The festival is a casual, fun filled environment. 99% of visitors will be friendly, and the work is easy & fun! If you need more information or if any problems occur, shift leaders will gladly help you. When your shift is ending, the next beer servers will arrive to take your place. At this time, you're now free to go try some of the many fabulous beers! But first, you need to return to the Volunteers area and check-out. There you'll be given your complimentary LVBF™ mug beer tokens, which are good for the entire event, so if you have the last shift, you can use them the next day. If you're on the last shift (which ends 1 hour before the official closing) you can attend a short "after-shift" gathering with a variety of beers already prepared. This should last about an hour and then all must leave when the festival closes for the night.
Festival Assistants: Your main responsibility is to offer information and any other tasks needed by the staff, brewers and guests in your assigned area. You need to be courteous, helpful and offer quality assistance to those with extra needs. Here's a list of the positions and general duties: Festival Guide - answer questions and provide information to the public VIP Tent Assistants - set-up, staffing, clean-up at the VIP functions Music Tent Assistants - typical roadie duties, sound & lights maintenance Comedy Tent Assistants - stage hand duties, sound & lights maintenance Brewing Talks & Demo Assistants - audio maintenance, stage hand duties Brewers Hospitality Tent Assistants - set-up, staffing, maintenance Volunteer Relief Personnel - stand-in for beer pourers on their breaks General Assistants - help with various additional tasks wherever needed
